The investment is located in the Logistics Centre of Raben Logistics Polska, located at Zbożowa Street in Robakowo, in the vicinity of the S11 expressway and 5 km from the Krzesiny junction connecting the S11 with the A2 motorway.
The high storage warehouse will accommodate 41 thousand pallets and it is divided into five zones, including specialized ones which allow for the storage of aerosols or oxidants. Each zone is separated with REI 240 fire division walls and fire gates with EI 120 fire resistance. The ceiling and in-rack sprinkler systems were made in accordance with the FM Global standard. To minimize the risk to the environment, the floor in new facility is resistant to paraffin, alcohol, solvents, aerosols and lubricants, in accordance with the German regulation WGK-2
In order to supplement the range of goods that can be stored in this warehouse, one of the chambers in the existing facilities was adapted to store a wide selection of goods classified as flammable liquids of classes IA, IB, IC according to the NFPA standard. Such an assortment requires appropriate fire protection, therefore a high expansion foam system was installed in one of the warehouses. This system has been made in accordance with the FM GLOBAL standards.
“The safety of our employees and our neighbours is a non-negotiable value in Raben Group. Hence, when building new facilities, we equip them with the most modern systems, such as the modern automatic foam extinguishing system.” - comments Wojciech Szafran, Regional Director, Raben Logistics Polska.
Other interesting solutions include racks with narrow aisles, which in turn requires the use of a special type of fork-lift trucks.
“In our warehouse, we have semi-autonomous VNA trucks, which certainly helps the work of operators. We also lease high-reach trucks powered by lithium-ion batteries instead of the most commonly used acid batteries.” - explains Wojciech Szafran.
The facility has also been designed for co-packing operations. For this purpose, a specialized surface was prepared, equipped with automatic solutions supporting the processes of picking and packing, such as the line for the production of stands, automatic welding machines, labelling devices, palletizers, or special packaging robots.
The investment in the new warehouse was possible, among others, thanks to the continuation and expansion of cooperation with Henkel.
“The completed project is aimed at long-term streamlining and optimization of storage and delivery preparation processes. Modern solutions which we are implementing in cooperation with Raben will allow us to execute orders more efficiently and improve the quality of our customer service.” - said Iwona Przybył, who is responsible for all logistics operations for the Henkel Beauty Care Division in Poland and the Baltic States.
After the investment, the Logistics Centre of Raben Logistics Polska in Gądki has 120,000 m2 of warehouse capacity and the possibility of storing 185 thousand pallets, as well as almost 18 thousand m2 of the cross-dock area and 5,000 m2 of production space.
