Raben marks 10 years in Romania

2026.10.20

Ten years after entering the local market, Raben Romania expects to close 2026 with approximately 4.7 million shipments, more than 350 employees and 13 warehouses across the country. The company sees Romania as playing an increasingly important role in its European network, with the potential to become a major logistics hub for flows between Central Europe, the Balkans, Turkey and the Republic of Moldova.

Raben Romania began operations in October 2016 with two warehouses, in Bucharest and Arad, and a team of 12 people. Today, the company operates 11 locations, employs 350 people and has 22 direct connections to strategic warehouses in Raben's European network.

By the end of the year, the company expects to exceed one million shipments in 2026 alone and to reach 13 warehouses as it expands operations in Iași, Târgu Mureș and Constanța.

"When we entered Romania in 2016, we saw the potential of a large market and the advantage of its geographic position. Ten years later, Romania plays a much more important role in our European network. We continue to see opportunities driven both by the development of the economy and infrastructure and by the country's position between Central Europe, the Balkans, Turkey and the Black Sea region. We believe Romania can become an increasingly relevant logistics hub for this part of Europe," says Ewald Raben, CEO of Raben Group.

The company's client portfolio grew during this period from a few hundred to several thousand, with FMCG, agriculture, DIY and the chemical industry among the best-represented sectors.

"We started with a small team and two warehouses, and today we have a network covering the entire country and daily connections with  the rest of Europe. The growth over these ten years is reflected in our volumes, the number of locations and our ability to deliver anywhere in Romania within 24 hours. Our next step is to continue expanding the network and make even better use of Romania's position in the region," says Tomasz Niezwicki, General Manager, Raben Romania.

Romania, a link between Central Europe and Southeastern Europe

Raben Romania currently has 22 direct connections to strategic warehouses in the European network and direct groupage lines to nine countries. Through its FTL (Full Truck Load) and LTL (Less Than Truck Load) services, the company directly serves all European markets.

Romania's geographic position, access to the Black Sea, the development of road infrastructure and connections with Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey can strengthen the local market's role in regional logistics flows.

In the coming years, Raben plans to continue developing its network in Romania, increase service predictability, digitize operations and expand connections with markets in Central and Southeastern Europe.
