Raben Group supports Christmas parcel convoy to Eastern Europe

2018.12.04
On 1 December, the Christmas parcel convoy set off from Hanau to Eastern Europe to bring joy to children in need. For the second time Ewald Raben, CEO of Raben Group, is one of the patrons of the non-profit project of the Round Table and Ladies' Circle Germany. As in the previous year, Raben Group also provided the central warehouse for the convoy, which this year comprises more than 156,000 packages and 250 helpers.

The Christmas parcel convoy will travel to Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania from 1 to 8 December 2018. The initiative, launched in 2001, brings Christmas presents to needy children in orphanages and hospitals, facilities for the disabled, kindergartens and schools in the poorest, remote and rural regions of Eastern Europe. Raben Group has been involved in the campaign for seven years and this year it will be present with its own truck.

The parcels come from children from primary schools and kindergartens in Germany who, true to the motto "Children help children", donated their own toys, sweets and school materials. These Christmas surprises are first collected centrally and then brought to Eastern Europe by volunteers with the support of numerous donors.

"The commitment of the many children and volunteers to the convoy is impressive. Only with their help can the Christmas parcel convoy bring the one millionth parcel to Eastern Europe this year. Raben Group is part of this success story with its participation in the 18th Christmas parcel convoy. We also see this as our social responsibility, which is deeply rooted in our corporate values," - said Ewald Raben, CEO of Raben Group. He is the patron of the convoy along with CDU Vice-Chairman Hermann Gröhe and singer Peter Maffay.

Many employees of Raben Group are also volunteering for the Christmas parcel convoy. They bring parcels, help to pack the parcels in outer boxes or travel with the convoy to distribute the parcels. Among them is Marco Raben, brother of Ewald Raben and the Managing Director of Raben Trucking & Rental GmbH, who travels to Romania in the Raben Group truck. "For Raben Group it is natural to support socially committed organisations and I am very happy to be able to make my own contribution," said Marco Raben before getting into the truck and setting off.
