2022.07.22

Raben Group is realising a new logistics location in Sarstedt, (lower Saxony, Germany), together with the Swedish project developer EQT Exeter a new logistics location in Sarstedt. The owner-managed company is one of the leading logistics service providers in Hildesheim and the Hanover region and intends to establish an important anchor point for the European general cargo network in Sarstedt in the future.

The new branch replaces the previous one in Langenhagen and offers a higher handling capacity for goods from the consumer, automotive and chemical goods industries on a total area of 8.6 hectares with a total floor space of 35,800 square metres. With 40,000 pallet spaces, the new location also has a large also has a large storage area for contract logistics customers.

"With the modern new building in an excellent location not far from the B6 and A7, we can continue to grow in the Hanover logistics region and further expand our national general cargo network," says branch manager Felix Thiele.

The new logistics location increases the available logistics space by more than ten times. This expansion is also important for Raben, as customer demand for available and quite sophisticated logistics space as well as additional services continues to be very high.

The logistics and transshipment center, which is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in the third quarter of 2022, has a logistics area of 27,000 square meters, a transshipment area of 5,500 square meters and an office area of  of 1,900 square meters. In Raben warehouse, which also has a 1,400-square-meter  mezzanine area, will be received, stored, scheduled and picked the goods of its contract logistics customers. The customers benefit above all in terms of quality and process reliability from the  Raben's high standards. For example the goods of water hazard class up to 3 (WGK III) can be stored without any problems. About 80 gates are planed for loading and unloading of the goods. The approximately 60 employees from Lagenhaben are moving with them to Sarstedt. The European logistics provider plans to increase in the long term its man power up to around 200 employees. The new logistics building is being constructed  after new sustainability standards. Raben is aiming for certification to the DGNB Gold Standard.

Contract logistics customers benefit from the high Raben standards
Sarstedt is already the third new Raben Group building this year, following Ragow in Brandenburg and Herborn in Hessen. All three new locations meet the customers' demand for highest precision, just-in-time deliveries and various quality assurance standards with a larger service portfolio. In addition to general cargo, partial and full loads are also possible. Increasingly, Sarstedt is focusing not only on distribution logistics but also on procurement and shipping logistics.

"Since we can offer all services from a single source, time-consuming coordination processes at the interfaces are no more necessary. We can flexibly adapt to customer requirements and ensure efficient and secure handling of goods," explains Thiele.
