The Czech Logistics Association, a member of the European Logistics Association, awarded Raben Logistics Czech the second place in the Logistics Project of the Year 2017 competition for their solution of a technologically-demanding, dedicated warehouse with a special “sauna” in which Skittles are “matured” to gain the required softness.
“I would like to thank all our employees who participated in the preparation and implementation of this demanding solution for our customer. The award belongs to all of them. It is a proof for us that we are at the top of the logistics segment and for this we thank both our employees and our partners who believe in us,” said Jakub Trnka, the Managing Director of Raben Logistics Czech and Raben Logistics Slovakia.
Raben built the warehouse in the vicinity of the factory in Poříčí nad Sázavou. It is situated as close to the Wrigley Confections ČR factory as possible it operates nonstop, 24 hours a day. The sweets are brought here straight from the production line. In addition to the final goods, Raben stores raw materials and packaging for these products.
“We appreciate the unique solution of this project and the fact that it was custom-built for the customer. We are really pleased that we can welcome the Czech branch of Raben Group among the winners,” said Miroslav Rumler, the Vice President of the Czech Logistics Association.
Among the reasons for presenting this award was the environmentally responsible solution because the two-chambered sauna needs be heated for only half a year if the volume in the given season allows. The main reason why the warehouse with the sauna was created was the continuous growth of production at the Wrigley factory in Poříčí nad Sázavou and the associated need to expand the warehouse capacity. When looking for a logistics partner, the customer chose Raben Logistics Czech which also offered to meet the specific needs of an external warehouse with a special sauna.
“Wrigley and Mars are globally known for their high requirements concerning the safety and quality of foodstuffs. We appreciate that they have found a partner in Raben, from whom we receive services at the high level that exactly suits our business needs. We are excited about this unique project being appreciated by the judges of this renowned competition,” said Marek Peterka from Wrigley Confections ČR.
Wrigley now has a capacity of 4,000 pallets, which is an increase of nearly 50% compared to the previous logistics provider, and they have increased by over 30% the number of trucks that can now provide transportation daily in the nonstop mode. This is absolutely essential for the plant in Poříčí nad Sázavou and its planned future growth. The majority of the rainbow-coloured sweets that mature in the sauna in Poříčí nad Sázavou travel not only to all European countries, with Great Britain in the lead, but also, for example, to South Africa.
