Start of construction for new branch in Herborn Germany

2022.03.22

Raben Group continues to develop its German general cargo network in 2022: since the beginning of March, the European logistics service provider has been building a new branch in Herborn, Hesse. The new location has a total area of 28.360 square metres, of which 5,600 square metres are allocated to the handling area and the cross docks. The new logistics centre replaces the previous location in nearby Haiger and enables Raben to handle goods more efficiently. The owner-managed company is taking on all 60 employees of the old branch. The new location will be ready for occupancy in January 2023 and will enable Raben Group to provide more efficient distribution and procurement logistics.

In the old building in Haiger, the logistics service provider was only a tenant.

"The new handling areas and the generously designed logistics warehouse, together with the immediate proximity to the A45 motorway, form a long-term and strategic advantage for our entire European distribution network and, first and foremost, of course, for our customers," says branch manager Sven Decker.

The new branch is part of Raben's own general cargo network. In the transshipment hall, goods are stored at short notice, dispatched and picked for onward transport. The new building also includes a 920 square metre administration building.

Solar-powered heat pump heats new branch office

In the new branch, Raben heats the transshipment hall and the 920 square metre administration building with a heat pump powered by solar energy. The greatest possible protection of resources and the environment as well as the maximum use of renewable energies are an integral part of Raben's corporate philosophy. Thus, the new logistics centre in Herborn meets the current energy standard. The sustainability goals are defined in the "Eco2Way 2025" strategy. With this strategy, Raben wants to achieve a gradual reduction of the CO2 footprint in all business areas within five years.

Herborn's mayor welcomes the Raben settlement in the industrial area

"Roman Herzog once said: Visions are strategies of action. That distinguishes them from utopias. Vision requires courage, strength and the willingness to realise it'. It is precisely for this that I thank Raben's management, also on behalf of the municipal bodies," says Katja Gronau. Herborn's mayoress adds: "I am pleased that another gap in the industrial area of Herborn-West with its good transport connections is being closed and that jobs are being preserved and new ones created.
