Responsible gadgets of Raben Group

2014.07.30
Raben Group launched cooperation with social enterprises and occupational therapy workshops commissioning them with manufacturing work clothes and gadgets.
Raben Group orders, for instance, work clothes for 10 countries where its branches are located from the Social Cooperative Otwarci in Konin, which associates disabled persons. "Raben Group's CSR Strategy states that we want to set sustainable trends in the sector. Cooperation of business with social enterprises allows us to achieve our vision since it is an innovative solutions and a perfect reflection of the idea of running a business according to the win-win concept" - comments Marta Szymborska, CSR Leader in Raben Group. Gadgets, on the other hand, are ordered from Occupational Therapy Workshop in Piaski. Participants of the workshops prepare ecological wooden toy trucks for Raben Group. "For the participants of our workshops the cooperation with Raben Group brought many more advantages than we had expected at the start. Above all, executing an order for such a large customer and organization required cooperation between several of our facilities. Furthermore, the awareness that the trucks will perhaps be presented to the key customers of the company made our participants pay great attention to the quality of work and they self-controlled what they did. Finally, work under the pressure of time, so valuable on today's market, was a real test of skills for many people. Add to this the regulations which clearly specify what we can spend our resources on (it is the widely understood social integration of the disabled with the environment, like for example organizing trips) and the motivation to work with the perspective of a trip to the seaside partially financed from the earned resources was high in the team. For me, as the managing person, this cooperation was a kind of test of the team's possibilities. I had no doubt that we would manage but I especially paid special attention to the creative process and overcoming obstacles often impossible to predict at the planning stage in the case of working with the disabled. Today I can say that we are ready for cooperation with any customer who, just like Raben Group, values quality, diligence and Corporate Social Responsibility" - summarizes Gerard Misiaczyk, Head of the Association of the Disabled "Kreatywni" which runs Occupational Therapy Workshop for 40 persons in Piaski near Gostyń. Legal entities in Poland which work in the sector of social economy are foundations, associations, cooperatives and occupational therapy workshops. However not all organizations of that type are automatically classified as social enterprises. It depends above all on the profile of their activities and other features such as if their employees or customers include persons from groups with the risk of social exclusions, e.g., the long-term unemployed or disable
