Road Surcharge

As of 1st July 2011 on selected national roads and some sections the electronic toll (e-toll) is going to be collected. This toll is a mandatory payment of public character paid for the use of road infrastructure for vehicles of maximum total weight exceeding 3.5 t. According to the Directive 2006/38/EC of the European Parliament and European Council of 17 May 2006 all EU member states are obliged to introduce e-toll by 1st January 2012.

In Poland the obligation of paying e-toll results from the Ordinance of the Council of Ministers of 22 March 2011 on national roads (…) (Journal of Laws, No 80, item 433). According to these regulations, as of 1 July 2011 the Electronic Road Toll Collection System shall become operational and in the first stage it will cover 1,600 km of motorways, express roads, and national roads and ultimately it will cover approximately 4,400 km of all national roads. Gradually other road sections are expected to be covered by the toll collection system, as they are going to be modernized or constructed.

As a result of this, beginning from 1st July 2011 Raben Polska is going to introduce a Road Surcharge which shall constitute an additional payment for the transportation services using roads which are subject electronic toll collection and paid licensed motorways.

The amount constituting the Road Surcharge has been calculated in such a way so that it corresponds to the cost of paying the mandatory electronic toll and fees for using licensed motorways, as well as the fleet of vehicles used by Raben Polska and the connections between the company’s terminals, international terminals, and foreign terminals.

The Road Surcharge rate will be updated accordingly, following level of e-maut or fees from concessioned motorways, but also changes (extension) of public roads network, that will be subject to the electronic toll collection and payable motorways network.

Road Surcharge shall constitute a separate item in the specification for an invoice and shall be calculated according to the following rules:
